Any suggestions on how to provide a video loading.... visual indication?

I have a pet video site

using a combination of .wmv and flash. But the wmv take about 30secs to start playing for a 30sec clip. I'd like a loading indicator to indicate that something is actually happening...

..oh and, Hi

export it to a .FLV and put it into a flash graphic with a preloader? Not sure what it would do to filesize and i think you would need flash 8.

Truthfullly I wouldn't worry about it. All of your clips loaded right away for me. What speed connection are you testing on?

With media most of us understand that it is going to take awhile for things to load. Usually the best way to let the user know is by posting the file size of each clip. Users know how long it takes for any given file size for their connection.

Thanks chaps. Well I'm using a 0.5Meg connection which even for the uk is on the slow side these days I suppose...
I suppose I'm being a bit of a perfectionist in my limited webdesign/playing.

I know the .flv vides start to play pretty quick, about 6 secs. But I'd really like to have a pretty "video loading..."
graphic.

Yes, I think maybe using flash I could do it. I have mx 2004 and only scraped the surface with it yet. But it doesn't handle .flv videos only .swf (I think)

So, maybe I should convert my videos to .swf first and then combie them with a pre loader %bar graphic and maybe reconvert them to .flv - phew! it's all a bit daunting - but I'm eager...

Then again, maybe flix pro 4 would do it for me?

yes, I think I'll check that out..I've manage to put a pre loader on some of my clips, but in flash mx 2004 I can only save it in .swf format and it's a bit blocky.
