I have been looking into maybe starting one of those sites where you give away items once people go through and complete offers with your affiliates.

I dont know much at all on how to make a site from nothing. I can make a page from nothing but thats as much as I can do at the moment.

How do you keep up with the people? Like what keeps the peoples info and tells you the owner when to send them there item?

I think I could probably make the site. Or get help here lol. But im not sure as how you would
make something to keep track of all of the people.

Does anyone know about these type of sites how they do this?

I do know that TradeDoubler does have a feature that allows you to uniquely identify your customers, via a parameter whacked onto their URL - perfect for that kind of site.

It's called EPI, and would have an integral part to play in your project.

As for the rest of it, I'd recommend paying somebody to help you out, getting plenty of help at WT (and maybe expert-advice) and being prepared to put a lot of time in - it won't be easy - good luck!

It may take some time I know. I built one site before and it took several hours.
I didnt make any money so I shut it down. It seems these sites are making some money. Like if lots of people sign up but dont complete the offers they make even more money.
Id just like to make some extra money and it would be cool to have a site that worked well and paid for itself and a little extra.

I hope others will help me out on this more as far as keeping track of everyone that would register.

Your going to have to use some sort of scripting language such as php or asp.net. These languages contain built in mechanisms (sessions) that you can use to track user information.

Republikin is right. You are going to need to use a scripting language like PHP or ASP. You are also going to need a database. These two things will help you keep track of all your members. The database will store info about your members and the language like php or asp will interact with the database so you can retrieve the info. A project like this will take far more than a few hours though. Even someone good at making websites and coding with php would probably spend a lot of time on something like this.

I'm going to agree. Creating this site will need a scripting language and it's not going to be as trivial as creating a web page. If you want to get the site up right away it will probably be better to hire someone for the project.

If you want to try building it yourself I would start with a book on either php or asp and take the time to learn the language. There's a good chance you can find a book that will have an example similar to what you need which you can then modify and use, but I still recommend learning the language first.

As angele said you'll also need a database. Many books on scripting languages also include information about databases so look for one of those. Chances are you're going to find other things with the site you want that will also require the combination of scripting language and database.

So how much would I have to pay someone to build a site like this for me? I dont know where to get a database or how they work. I have only used a template to build a site before and edited myself so I
know very little. I never used any PHP or ASP.net coding.

The site basically works like this. On page 1 the homepage, people put in there email address. The next page they put in there personal information into the database under there account
so we know where to ship the free item to once they complete the offers.

The next page they have to sign up for 1 offer. Then on the next page offer page 2 they have to sign up for 3 offers. Once there done there the final page offer page 3. They have to sign up for
7 offers on this page and once all the offers get done I can somehow login to my database and find out when they have completed all the offers. I then simply go to my postoffice and ship
them there free item.

Mostly I just need help with integrating the database so I can keep track of the people. I think this site would be successful. Id like to offer several things like laptops and mp3 players.
I first need to maybe get a idea from some of you on what it may cost if you know to build a site like this and get a database made. Then I need to get ahold of several affiliates so I can
make the site work. I already have some affiliates ready in my linkshare and CJ affiliate networks im registered on.

Its really hard to say how much a site like this might cost to make. You might find someone to do it for $30 or you might not be able to find anyone who will do it for less than $300. The second is more likely. You might want to start a thread in the PHP section and ask for offers. Also, if you know how to design a site, it might save you some money to have a design ready, and hire the coder to do the just PHP part.
