Hi! I have searched and searched looking for a simple answer to this question. Is there one? All I want to do is create a simple HTML newsletter, and send it out in an email. I see ASP Smart Mailer, but I don't use ASP. And I see things to buy to send out these HTML emails, such as Advanced HTML Editor 2? I also see services out there that will also send out your emails - but I
I don't understand why sending out HTML in emails is such a 'complicated task'.

The only way I found to do this on my own is to create my HTML document in DWMX, then open it in Word and send it that way. This is fine, but the code WORD adds is ridiculous! And then when I test this email in OUTLOOK, it looks great. But if I try to forward it along, all the tabs screw up.

I don't use ASP, just plain and simple HTML. Is there a simple way to send out my simple Dreamweaver MX HTML document in emails other than using WORD, ASP or buying additional software or a special service plan?

Thanks for any help!
Kristi

Create an email in your preferred email client, then when you send out the email, in the CC box (i think) seperate all your email addresses with a comma.

The services you see to buy are services where you keep a database of users and can create emails online then send it out to everyone in your database at the click of a button.

Welcome to the world of designing html email. If you thought x-browser issues were a pain in the *** for webpages, x-email client html design makes those isses look tame.

Designing the page template in DW then loading up in Outlook for a bulk mail out is ok - but risky. What if you wanted to send to 500 recipients in the BCC field? Your ISP will prolly block you for spamming.

This is what mail-merge in MS Word is for. It's specifically designed for bulk emailing and the best part is, the emails are sent individually and you can customise content to each adressee. The next best part is that you can use your Outlook Contacts folder as a data source for the email recipient addresses and custom details for the mail-out.

While there's a fair bit to learn to get proficient at doing mail merges in Word, the time investment will pay off. Check out the Word Walk Through.

If your using a small list then outlook would be a great way to send out HTML. That's a simple copy and paste word document. However the problem with HTML email is not everyone can view them. Many people still view plain text only and AOL is just not friendly. Also over the past month sending out HTML and solicate emails have gone under fire. AOL and Goodmail are setting up systems where it will be harder to get your email through to your customers.

What exactly is your need and list size. If your sending out a huge newsletter I would recommend getting www.constantcontact.com. You lease their software, but they take care of a LOT! They keep everything compliant. Also you can use both HTML and Plain Text without coding.

I probably sound like a commercial, but this is an issue I've been working on aol week and I'm about to present to our President.
