Hi,

I specialize in Internet marketing and training people the art of Internet marketing. One problem that I have encountered, and that I am sure is common out there, is that most newcommers are website editing illiterate.

I keep seeing them run into the walls of:

- How do I cut some code and add it to my website?
- How do I FTP?
- And so on.

These questions may seem simple to old hands, but it is a real problem for many out there.

My question is, can anyone recommend a really good online facility / tutorial / dummy's guide that covers the basics of website editing, FTP, etc. in a flash or video format that we can point our clients to?

I am looking for a visuallized tutorial that is easy to follow as opposed to a text-based tutorial that people find hard to read and absorb?

Thanks.

Hi Guy, welcome to Webmaster Talk! I haven't used this before, but it looks like what you are after: http://visualtutorials.com/html.htm

Normally, I would recommend www.w3schools.com but thats only text based although it is easy to understand.

there is a book about visually learning HTML by Elizabeth Castro. It is a bit outdated but it is extremely easy. I don't know if you wanted books but I really liked it. It made it easy to learn.

Hey Guy!

Would just like to add another option. Dare I go out of the realm of diy?

As a technical trainer I understand that even the best at what they do learn quicker when they take a course. If there is a local college that teaches web design classes, (there most likely is) see if you can talk to one or two of the instructors to see if they can place you in the appropriate level class. A hands on class can teach you a lot. It is usually well worth the effort if you have access to a reputable instructor.

<afterthought>Thinking about it, I have been teaching this stuff for quite a while. Maybe I will put together a downloadable course that will address much of the basics, and maybe a little beyond myself. If I do, I'll post here to let you know where to get it.</afterthought>
