Frist, I hope that this is the proper Forum for the questions and request for information that I have.

I am using Windows XP and Dreamweaver 8.

I am seeking a way to upload and/or install a program application that I have on my hard drive, to my website.

This is a "Search" program with a very large database.

My goal is to have the program run on my website in the same manner that it does on my computer.

Is this possible?

If so, can this be done using a proper coded "External Link"?

And/or is there specific code, or a place where I can get code to do this?

To do this you would have to set up the data on your site in a database, you would then use a search function to pull relevant data out and display it on a web page.

The most common way of doing this would be to use mysql for the database and a bit of php coding to do the search function.

You can't, unless the application is designed to work in a webserver context.

Certain applications can actually be run on your server via cgi-bin. This however is usually just for processing data (command line applications) and not actually for displaying data (normal windows applications). This means that windows applications are generally not useful when uploaded to a webserver.

If you are looking for applications that run both online and on your computer you might look at Microsoft's C# combined with webservices. This is very complex however and would require someone to write you a custom program.
