Font not showing as it should

I wrote a simple page but the font is not showing up as it should.

Here is the code to the page:
<html>
<head>
<title>Balancedspirit.com</title>
<head>
<body bgcolor="#000000">
<center><font face="angelican" color="#ffbbff" size="7">Balancedspirit.com<br>
<p align="center">coming soon, check back</p></font face>
</body>
</html>

The page is located at:
http://www.finitesite.com/spiritlady/bs.htm

When I first finished the page and reloaded to make sure it was what it was supposed to look like, it wasn't in angelican font for me.

I thought it had something to do with my browser (IE) not having that font. I checked Tools-Internet Options- Fonts and angelican is listed as a font under wep page font. I clicked on it and next thing I know, it shows up in angelican. But so did another page I wrote and it did not have any angelican font listed in the code at all.

How can I reset IE to make sure I get to see the fonts that are in the codes of each webpage I view, the way the website owner wants me to see it?

Why didn't it show up like it was supposed to?

When I finish this site (or any site for that matter) I want to ensure that each visitor sees the font I want them to see. That is what puts personally into our sites.

What is the problem here? The code is correct isn't it?

I think its because not everyone will have 'angelican' installed, so google up importing fonts with CSS. This way it should work.

Having said that, scrap <font face> and use CSS.

Ok, thank you for the info. I don't know anything about cascading style sheets but I have a feeling I need to.

css is the way to go. Don't get overwhelmed by it. Just do a little at a time. It's possible. Good luck.

spiritlady I think what was happening is you were setting IE to use the font you specified instead of the one set in the html. Keep in mind though that anyone can do that and as much as we all might like as designers to control exactly how are web pages look it's impossible to have absolute control over everything.

The nature of the web and websites is that they are flexible. The goal isn't to control every aspect of your pages to make them work as well as you can across a vareity of different browsers, and screen resolutions, etc.

The only way to guarantee that your text is seen in exactly the font you want it to make an image of the text. Otherwise visitors to your page will always be able to set the text to display how they want. Making images of your text though has a lot of other problems though and I wouldn't recommend it. It will cause your pages to load much slower and hinder your pages showing up in a search engine.

Ideally use something simple for the majority of your text. Use a font that you know all machines will have. If you want to use a different font for some things try to keep it to a minimum, but again it will have to be an image if you want to ensure that people will see your font. That is unless they have images turned off in their browser.
