Hi all,
I'm using Front-Page, and want to put Zip files on my site to be opened on click. The FronPage prog does not provide any answers as to how to do it - it just refuses to import the file into a web page. Can anyone tell me how its done please?

Just upload the file to your sever and link to it with a normal link on your page, you can use either a image for the link or a anchor text what ever works best for your sites design.

[cdoe]
<a href="filename.zip">Link Text</a>
[/code]

You could put it in a folder if you have a few zipped files that way the can be kept seperate from your sites pages, just remember to add the folder name before the file name in the a tag though.

Thanks Joneva, I've got a pile of zips to do this with, so a folder in the public HTML folder on my cPanel will do the job... am I right? Then Hyperlinks from the dealing page... ? Thanks for the quick response. Nick.

The answer is correct but I am not sure it is going to work if the poster is publishing the site with FP. That virus called FP will delete any files it did not place on the site.

I seem to recall that there is a way to turn off that off for selected directories but do not recall the method.

Ah right I dint know that I have used Front Page but only very breifly I could not stand the program. Dreamweaver is by far better and even then in WYSIWYG mode that sucks too.

You carnt beat coding pages yourself and I like to use Dreamweaver in code veiw as you then get extra features over basic editors like Note Pad.
featurse such as Dreamweaver template files, colour coded coding, the file management and the snippits panel.
