hello all
can anybody help, i'am a novice at dreamweaver, and have come to a grinding holt on the subject of frames, i have followed all the instructions from two libary books on the subject but every time i create a link to open in a different page it opens a new page in the browser,(i"am i having browser problems) i do believe i've uesd the targets correctly, i'am i missing something

Yep

Don't use frames!!!

Other than that as we have no idea what target attribute value you have used it's difficult to say.

chris thanks for replying, whats the alternative to frames, is it tables and do they work in the same way as frames

Tables and Div are something different

Anywayzz, there can be four values for target ...

_blank
the target URL will open in a new window

_self
the target URL will open in the same frame as it was clicked

_parent
the target URL will open in the parent frameset

_top
the target URL will open in the full body of the window

The question becomes, what are you trying to do tahat you think you need frames ?? Framesa are just bad for numerous reasons and you really should not use them.
