I am in the process of constructing my photography site www.richardlycettphotography.co.uk and need some help please.

I would like visitors who attended the wedding / event to be able to "log in" to view the page for the wedding by just typing in the surname of the groom, Smith, say, so only those who attended or know the couple can access the pictures.

I am using Dreamweaver. Could some kind person advise me please?

You can always place each set of photos in a diffreent directory and use htaccess to control who can view the pages in that directory.

I have no experience with DW but I imagine it has some form of built in password function also.

You would require a server-side script for an intergrated login system such as asp or php. You can also use .htaccess as noted from colbyt if your hosted from a web server using Apache.

HTML alone will not accomplish what you want to do.

There's some java scripts out there that can do this. If you put the photo albums in different directories, with the directory name being the surname of the couple, then the javascript can redirect the user to that directory.

You could do the same thing server side with a couple of lines of code, it would be far cleaner.

Yes! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
This, I think, is what I need/want.
just to get the guests to type in the bride's / grooms surname into a box to access the directory.
I'm a novice...how on earth do I do it?
