Ok...I have a freewebs account and a co.nr instead of a .com thing. I'm trying to make the meta tags work. I've done everything I'm supposed to and I've put them in the right place. But for some reason when I search through google I can't find my website. Am I doing something wrong or what? Can someone help me?
Thanks!

It takes a lot more than meta tags before your site will be found in Google. In fact meta tags won't really help. They've been abused for so long that the major search engines pretty much ignore them as far as ranking.

You still want to write a good meta description since that will sometimes show up beneath your link in search results and help convince people to click on the link, but the meta keywords tag isn't really going to help at all.

Optimizing your pages and site in general requires a lot more work and also some investment in time. You may want to spend some time reading through the SEO Talk Forum here to get a better understanding of the basics.

The key though is to not look for any quick solutions. SEO takes time. There really aren't any quick fixes and it can take some time to see through the misinformation that is around.

Start reading through the forums here and ask any questions you have as they arise. Myself and many others here will be happy to answer as best we can.

You want a good description AND, very important, you need a good title.
To get visibility on Google especially, you need incoming links - the more the better, but they must be relevent links, not just from link exchanges or link farms.

Yes, you need an external link to your site, a forum signature will do the trick.

I've gathered it helps to submit to directories too. I always submit my sites to www.dmoz.org.
