Hello everybody,

Thanks alot for taking your time in helping myself as i need it. Alot. Basically i work for a website www.toon-army.co.uk and recently we decided to make it so you can sign up to the site, to view a members area and specific features on the site.

The problem is i have NO idea how to do this, and nobody else on the site does. I'm currently making the registration page which is really easy, but if you could tell me how to make it so people CAN register, and CAN view these seperate pages then that'd be brilliant.

Many Thanks.

Craig Howarth

You need to learn some type of scripting. Server Side is best for what you need. There are a few options. PHP, .net being a two of the most popular. You will also need to learn to use a database. Mysql is free and easy enough to use. You will have to make sure these two things are installed on the server or you cannot use them.

It looks like your host already supports php and mysql so there's nothing for you to download. You will need to learn a little of both though to set up the database and code the members area.

There are quite a few books on php/mysql (you can find many that teach both) and probably all will have instruction on how to set up a member section for your site.

There should also be a lot of online tutorials for creating a login system.

If you've never used either php or mysql before though a book might be more helpful since they will cover some introductory material that the online tutorials probably won't.
