hello, im new here.

i have a website and we will upload a flash file that is around 200 MB.

is there some way to diminish the size for downloading it? we will have clients, hopefully tons of them that will be downloading that file. is there some kind of manager or a way that if it breaks, next time it resumes the downloading and not start form zero.

thanks

That is an extremely large file. You might want to consider doing whatever you did other way. I don't think you can make the file smaller other than to compress it in a .zip file. I would try to make it a different way.

Either zip or gzip it and/or use public ftp for downloading and find a ftp client that has the feature of resuming a download if timeout or disconnect occurs.

0.o how the crap did you get a flash file to be that big? Must be loaded with music...

If it is loaded with musics and sounds, you could go to the publish settings in flash and make the sound quality low.. .though the sound quality truly does suck then. You could also hit compress movie (if you havnt already) and lower the jpg quality. Only problem with all of those (except compress movie) is that they make stuff looke/sound ugly

Id imagine that they would be downloading the movie in form of watching it on your site. If they are actually downloading the file onto their harddrive, your best bet would be to zip/gzip/rar it.
