jumpink, tables aren't bad, but it's not their intentional use other than for portraying tabular data that could be used in conjunction with graphs, etc, not for laying out your site.
Even if using tables, there should be no reason to have nested tables.

You'll usually want only 10 keywords that clearly explain the content of what you site provides.
Are these pages all static, if generated dynamically you could use compression (gzip-encoding).
