Hi,
I have been studying cert4 web design for a while and I would like to have a look at doing some flash. Can anyone please tell me if I am in the right forum area and if so, where would be the best 'beginners' site to go to so as to learn a little more re Flash.

for the very start, please, use tutorials in Macromedia Flash Application or try to find something on google.

I would also suggest a very good learning resource if you can afford $25 for a 6-week instructor-led on-line class.

Head to Online Classes. LVS Online offers computer courses, photography courses, business programs, web design, graphic programs, CSS classes, XHTML Classes and check out their flash classes, they are VERY good and will get you up and going in no time with flash.

Another excellent resource if you can afford a few $$ is The One and ONLY Place to Buy CartoonSmart Flash Tutorials is Right Here!. Justin is amazing and he sells packages of lessons for a mere $10 !

*(that's interesting, I didn't type all that in there !) I seen Moondog already linke to Cartoonsmart..good resource !

You're right, Kymberly, there aren't enough of us, but we are certainly growing

My personal web page is in sore need of an update. As tends to be the case, I do everyone else's stuff and leave my own to last.. lol.

I have looked at the sites you put links too. They are brilliant. I hope one day I am able to produce something remotely similar so far as professional presentation goes. How long have you been designing web sites, if you don't mind my asking?

I have a lot of questions I would like to ask you but I think I have to wait a while before I can post a pm.

Thank you With any luck, I'll have at least 5 more sites live in the next month. If I could get folks to respond I could have 3 of them live tomorrow ! Dr's offices are busy places, as you might imagine, so it can be tough to get responses.. lol.

I"ve been designing web sites for 10 years now. I taught myself html using HotDog 2.0 in 1996. I've been doing graphics of one sort or another for a lot longer than that and my background is in IT. So the web site thing worked in well for me. I not only design them, I can and do maintain the servers they run on. I used to a bit of programming, Cold Fusion for internet, but I got away from that and that's ok. I also do Flash, nothing really fancy, ActionScript drives me crazy, but I know enough to do simple effects.

I tried to get a reply in yesterday but have been consumed day and night with study. Not sure where your email thing is as I am not too familiar with navigating myself around forums.

I can see by what you have written that I have a great deal to learn. I am really glad to meet you though as I have always wondered what the perspective may be regarding a woman in web design. Also wonder how the journey to get there was and how widely accepted we are.

Not that I think that we aren't, just a bit nervous I guess as this is all such a huge new field for me.

I use flash. As this forum does'nt offer much flash related threads i use http://flashmove.com/. this is a dedicated flash forum. It even has a beginners forum there. I hope I was aloud to say that.
