HTML-Kit...Practical or not?

To make a long story short, my friend died a few months ago and I'm purchasing his home-based desktop publishing business.

Just as he did, I will be accepting online credit card orders and need to develop a new web site for the business. For various reasons, the webpage setup he had won't work out for me, plus the design needs a new look anyway. I figure now is a great time to do this since the business has been shut down since May.

Anyway, would I be foolish to create the new website using HTML-Kit? I use this program for my own personal websites, which I admit aren't very elaborate. My first experience designing websites many years ago was with Notepad and I've always embraced the challenge of coding my own HTML.

Let's say I do use HTML-Kit. What open source e-commerce program would be best suited for me? osCommerce, Zen Cart, or something else entirely?

What other advice or suggestions would you offer if I used HTML-Kit?
