Should everybody who wants to learn Photoshop find version 1 to learn?" Then
find Photoshop 2 and see what has changed, etc. etc. etc.
This wouldn't be of any advantage...
I guarantee that half the people working for NASA under the age of 40 do not
fully understand the first Rocket that NASA sent into space.
The problem with Learning HTML is not really learning html. It is about how we
used it. And, before css hit the scene we had to be creative with the way we
used html. We used it incorrectly, but we knew that we were using it incorrectly.
It was for a reason. We used all kinds of *Hacks.* The best way to use HTML is
to learn how to use it correctly. Get a hold of a big old html book that explains
everything about everything and learn it. Cheatsheets are only good when you
know what you are doing...
(and why not learn the latest and greatest it has to offer?)
Cheatsheetts are great, But there are about 1 billion of them already out there
to find. First, I don't see where we need another one. I never made one
because it was easier to find one someone had already made. Usually one from
an authoritative source. Second, I don't see where we need one that explains
things that we shouldn't be using!
I get confused when the expert is asked what his opinion is and then the
admitted non-expert begins to correct him. Not to say that the expert is always
right. But when three or four experts tell me the same thing, I am going to
believe it.
ADVISE: Learning the old way of doing things provides nothing worthwhile. You
are better off spending your time learning how to use css and the most current
version of html...

Please! Please! I don't mean to attack anyone here.
Just consider what the *Experts* have to say!
