I am running Dreamweaver4 and need to create a rate calculator for my company's website. We want the calculator to give our guests specific rates for their specific family sizes.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need a better version of dreamweaver and a plugin, or is it possible to put something like that together withing Dreamweaver4?

Hi Christina,

You are going to need to use what we call a server technology. Either PHP or ASP.

These are programming languages that run on web sites along with your html. They give functionality to your pages. Using one of these you can either create a sript yourself, have someone else create it for you, or maybe, even find a free one.

What you will need to do first is contact your hosting provider and see what is currently installed on your server. Depending on the type of server your site is set up on will most likely determine if you will need to use php or asp to do this...

After you find out, come back to this post and let the forum know. Then we will be able to better direct your efforts.

Christina,
do you mean you wish to show total cost to user, if user selects any occupancy option, age option, meals option ? if so you can do it with javascript.. no server side scripting is needed for it.
