Hi

Ive just run my homepage (www.thedoorstop.co.uk) through the w3c script validation page and got a return of 102 errors. this displeases me largely because i spent most of yesterday css'ing it and matching it on several browsers so that it displayed the same on each. Ive got the errors down to 47 or so by using a different 'doctype' tag. The first error i have is :

Error Line 8 column 13: there is no attribute "TYPE".
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">

I have looked for sources explaining whats wrong with this "javascript type/ language" tag and not found much explanatory info that i understand. could somebody point me in the direction of a site that explains how use css, javascript and html whil being w3c compliant? Is it even important to have a w3c compliant site? I typed several large corporation's webs into the script validator and they all came back with a fair amount of errors. Seems like a load of old cobblers to me

The XHTML specification is very particular about letter case - try changing <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> to <script type="text/javascript"> (and close with </script> instead of </SCRIPT>).

You may also want to properly close the image tags and br tags like this <tag />

I'd highly recommend reading up on the XHTML specification tutorial at w3schools.com
