Hiding and showing frames

I am wanting to be able to have a row of button, ones that look and act like tabs, but when they are clicked it opens up a new frame on the bottom, then when the next one is selected the frame opens up that new area of the site. Also, when a button labeled hide is clicked it closes the frame. Is this possible? If so how can I do it?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Don't use frames. This is one possible solution: http://jquery.com/demo/thickbox/

Thank you for your suggestion, but unluckly thickbox won't work for what I am trying to achieve. I am wanting to open up the bottom frame, while not affecting the ability to alter textboxes, checkboxes, and dropdowns on the original page. Also, there is a frame with the menu on the left side that I am still wanting users to be able to use at any moment.

Ok, but frames are just .. bad. It's not just my personal opinion - read this:

There is a way to emulate frames behavior with CSS:

You can "show and hide" divs with scripting.

Wanting to keep a menu on the page is just not justification for using frames. If maintenance is a concern, use a server-side include for your menu.
