XHTML is HTMLs replacement. XHTML is designed to solve many of the problems with HTML and at the same time make a cleaner, stricter language for improved compatibility between different browsers and deveices.

The main difference is that with xhtml you should no longer user code inside your xhtml code to alter it display e.g. color="#000000" bgcolor="#ffffff" but user css instead.

A good site for xhtml tutorials is www.w3schools.com

Uhh.. not really.
HTML isn't going anywhere.. XHTML was meant to work with xml and be served not as text but AS xml.. doesn't work that way.. browser support isn't really there

What Is XHTML?

* XHTML stands for EXtensible HyperText Markup Language
* XHTML is aimed to replace HTML
* XHTML is almost identical to HTML 4.01
* XHTML is a stricter and cleaner version of HTML
* XHTML is HTML defined as an XML application
* XHTML is a W3C Recommendation
