For what kind of site?

LucidCMS (http://www.lucidcms.com) is great for a small static brochure site whereas Wordpress (http://www.wordpress.org) is great for a blog site and ZenCart (http://www.zencart.com) is great for an ecommerce site.

No one CMS is the "best," it all depends on what you're trying to do with your website

Hi
Thanks
By the best, I meant very easy to install and work with - not having too many extra features, from which half are never used ! For a small static site, may be with a contact form, but mostly informational. If it is also easy to customise with my own design, that would be great too!
Thanks again.

I would definately give LucidCMS a look, it's very lightweight (not bloated with useless features), easy to set up, and super customizable. You basically just plug in <lucidbody> into the code of your design where you want the page content to display

If you have basic HTML knowledge you should find it pretty easy to work with, and there's a pretty helpful forum too

For PHP, definitely check out Drupal. It's free and very full featured. Here's some more information and a link to several free look-and-feel templates: Free Website Template Framework

One added benefit about using Drupal is that it's included in the Fantastico scripts, so as long as your web host provides cpanel access and Fantastico script support then you'll be able to install it automatically just by clicking an installation link (most do - otherwise it's time to get a new provider). Here's a list of several major web host providers who all provide Fantastico script support.

The installation includes the CMS and the underlying MySQL database. So you'll basically be up and running in only about 3 minutes

The sites in my signature were built using Drupal, and I've converted 7 of my 9 websites to use Drupal.

Hi
I have downloaded LucidCMS, and will give it a try, and post my experience here.
Thanks for the help.
