Hello everybody!

I am new to this forum, and it looks great. It's nice to have a place like this.

Here is my question:
A have a website for my art: www.rabodzeenko.com that I designed and maintain myself. Ones in a while a hear people complaining that they can't see images of my paintings. One person in England, one in Russia and one in US (using AOL I think). I see everything on my site on my computers (three) and also checked it from different locations and I asked my friend to check it for me. Everything looks fine.
What's the problem?

Thank you for your help.

I think it would help if you got a more detailed description of the problem. Find out what page it is they're viewing that doesn't show the images, find out what browser they're using, find out what shows on their page instead of the image, then we'll have a much better idea of what's going on. I tested your site in Firefox, IE, and Opera and all are showing your site correctly. I've looked through your code as well, everything seems to be in working order.

Sometimes people block things without knowing. I had a problem with a customer once who said the site I designed is broken because he can't see any images... he turned loading images off without knowing. I've known people to accidentaly block vontents and they just didn't realise. It's usually not your issue but their's or their ISPs

Tanks, theblt and MJM_RDS.
The problem is that people are not eager to describe in detail, and I guess some of them are just computer/internet shy.
From what I understand they just can't see all the thumbnail pictures of paintings and sculptures and they click without any result on whatever they see instead of the thumbnails. But they can see my books and the pictures on the splash screen and home page.
One person from UK said that he actually can see images on other websites, but not on mine.

I came accross something like this before, but never been proved that this caused it?

could be something to do with the spaces in you image links. the browser adds a %20 to fill in the blanks,

Paintings/sudden%20inspiration%20despite%20S.jpg so it should be something like

Paintings/sudden_inspiration_despite_S.jpg

When i changed this on a site, and renamed the images with the "_" in place, I had no problems!

Just a thought...

Thank you, rolda hayes.
I agree, it's a good idea in general: to keep the titles browser-friendly. I just went ahead and fixed them on my first page. Will see if that's a solution. I have to do them all, eventually.

Yeah I'd be curious to know if the thumbnails with images containing spaces in the filename were the ones they couldn't see. I also noticed you had an apostrophe (') in some of them. I don't think it should cause an issue but I have run into a problem running a PHP script that couldn't handle a filename with a (').

Thanks, houdini987.
I would agree with that if people couldn't see some images, but they don't see any of them. That is a mystery. As if it has something to do with servers and/or ISPs.

Thank you everybody for participating in this discussion.

Here is some more fresh info on this topic:
One of my correspondents from Russia just wrote me that he couldn't see any of my picture pages for a while, and then he just started seeing them. He didn't change anything, neither did I.
This doesn't make the whole picture more clear but maybe shows that there are some quirks in the realm of different countries' ISPs, servers and so.
Just something to think about.
