In my opinion, as long as you have enough computer resources, it's not a bad thing to keep both Mozilla and IE on your computer. I use the composers and viewers of both when I am designing a site. That way I can always see how things work in both instead of just wondering. I often switch back and forth when I am working. How about you?

If I recall, it's not proper forum etiquette to make other people drool over your brand new computer system. How rude. Actually I have been using both for a long time on my old pentium 4. I bet you don't get those annoying pauses when switching between windows anymore. Lucky you. The problem is just now that there are faster computers, people will come up with faster and more crowded applications. Eventually you will find new things to do all at the same time, and eventually you will find those little annoying pauses popping into your days again!

It's not brand new. It's 7 months old. The required period of waiting for others to drool is now over.
And nope, no pauses other than the odd weird thing involving my NIC, but that's a $20 replacement as soon as I can be bothered.
I also waited 5 years for it. So I earned it.

I have IE 6, Firefox, and Opera all loaded and I test in all of them. At work we have a separate machine with IE 7 loaded (company is sloooooooow to upgrade). You definitely need at least those 3, Safari is right up there with FF and Opera.

McBone I believe you need to have the browsers installed before DreamWeaver can render a page as the browser would, but it's been a long time since I've used it.
I have at least 3 browsers FF, IE, Opera installed. Usually the most recent versions (with the exception of IE since it won't seem to do anything other than crash on my laptop). If I could I'd have several versions of each on said laptop as well as a few other browsers that don't play well with Windows.

I hate to have multiple browsers installed, but its a must these days to test your sites in more than one browsers to check for any degrading issues.
Btw, I wish there was some way to totally uninstall IE from the system.

I have three seperate systems so on my most used I keep IE, Firefox, and Netscape on this system (All latest versions)
Second Machine, same browsers, 1 version older
Third Machine, same browsers, 2 versions older
That way I cover all common browsing platforms and people who never update

Obviously if you are designing web sites it is necessary, no essential, to have more than one brwoser installed, or have access to as many different browsers and versions as you can.
If you don't you will end up designing pages that are not viewable to some of your potentional audience.

aldor I completely agree. That's why I'll take any browser I can. I still only use Firefox for my day to day browsing, but when I'm developing a site I want to check it in every browser as is reasonable.

F12 Media, Why do you have thre machines for each version of each browsers? there is no need! just have them all on one machine. I HAVE!
Someones made down load which has IE3.0 up to 6. so i have all ie's up to 7 (i cant install IE 1 and 2 becasue they can only be installed on '95 pc's and u can download differant verison of Firefox etc by just changeong the name of the exe so download one version, chnage the name of the exe to say firefoxv5.exe and change the folder to ffv5 or somin and then download anotherversion and that should work
u can just only have one browser version set as default.
hope that helps...

Dan, do you know how you got all the different versions of IE working together on the same machine? I tired something myself and it was working for versions prior to IE7, but it seems it did something to mess up the IE7 install. I seem to now be the one person who can't run IE7 at all without it instantly freezing up. (I'm sure I'm not the only one)
Nice trick on the Firefox installs. I'm not as concerned in general with older versions of FF since those who use it tend to be quick to upgrade, but it's still nice to be able to run a couple of different versions.
