Marquee is what it is... not much control... but it's best NOT to use it anyway, it's very annoying to users.

Also, marquee works best in IE and Opera. Firefox doesn't support it fully, which means that if your text stops at some point in IE, it will keep scrolling and rolling in Firefox. Firefox 3 should have the issue fixed, but listen to what LadynRed says. It really is an annoying feature.

You could create it out of flash.... It wouldnt be actual text the Serps would see but thats not the worst thing.

It's no less annoying as Flash than it is as a marquee. It simply is not something a good web designer should use any more. It's distracting, it's annoying.. and that's not what you want to do to your visitors.
