I am designing a site right now and am having problems. I have the psd sliced perfectly ... the problem is when I enter text into box 34 (see where it says "left")the background starts to repeat. I have tried changing the text size and everything but am not having any luck. I have included both my psd sliced screenshot and my Opera screenshot.

I want the text to fit in box 34 without the background image repeating. I want the image to stretch to the size needed. I have tried changing the height to 100% I have tried giving it an actual new height. I have tried moving the text up with the valign command. I am soooo lost at what else to do other than putting the text in the psd but I don't really want that because I want the check to change on each page.

The coding for box 34 is currently

HTML Code:
	<TD COLSPAN=15 style="background-image:url(images/index_34.gif);" WIDTH=747 HEIGHT=19 ALT="" valign="top"><table WIDTH=747 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td valign="top">

<table WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td valign="top"></td></tr></table>

<table WIDTH=135 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td valign="top" align="left"><font color="#ffffff" class="boxText1">Left</font></td></tr></table>

<table WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td></td></tr></table>

<table WIDTH=585 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td valign="top" align="left"><font color="#ffffff" class="boxText1">Left</font></td></tr></table>

<table WIDTH=7 HEIGHT=100% valign="top" align="left"><tr><td></td></tr></table>
			</td></tr></table>

			</TD>

How do you do that in Photoshop?

Background images won't resize. They just don't, that's not how it works. Regular ones, sure, but the browser resizing is lousy anyway. Your options are to make the background image not repeat, which would either center it or put it off to whichever edge you like, to size it up in Photoshop with a little wiggle room, and then to give that table cell a fixed size.

The code you posted gives me a headache. I was going to make suggestions, but I can't even follow it.

Ok ... the whole background image not repeat ... put that coding in ... and it just leaves a space ... see http://hotspotrenting.com/ for screenshot.

There you go! Now, either make the background color white for the area next to it, or go into Photoshop and make the image wider, space things out inside of it.
