It is possible to run Internet Explorer in standalone mode without having to over-write previous versions thanks to Joe Maddalone who came up with a way of achieving that in November 2003.

Basically, Internet EXPLODER is run by exploiting a known workaround to DLL hell - which was introduced in Windows 2000 and later versions - called DLL redirection.

Hmmmm. Personally, I'm wary of installing anything on my Windows computer from someone who uses terms like "MicroStoopid" and "Internet Exploder." That's just childish, and makes me wonder about the intentions, whether this is a trojan exploit or something along those lines.

You probably aren't offering a virus, but if you're trying to drive traffic to a site, you should know how people react to your advert.

Your username suits you well -- obivously, you don't know that I used to be a Programmer for MicroStoopid, and I always TEST SITES before I post anything ... so, get off your high-horse by immediately accusing me of attempting to drive traffic to any site!!!

Eww even if that's possible that sounds super scary. I have *never* had good luck installing multiple versions of anything, let alone something that embeds and engorges itself as deep as the MS IE tick.

There is NOTHING about that solution that is any kind of exploit or virus. The 'trick' to get other versions of IE to run as stand-alone has been around for quite some time and it works.

The terms might sound childish to you, but for those of us who have been battling the bugs in IE for years it's an indication of our level of frustration. MS let IE lag for too many years and it's only in the last year that they've come to the realization that designers are ANGRY and they can't force their version of things on the browser world !
