Hello,

I have just finished creating a personal website about my kart racing at www.mamkartsport.com.

One problem I have is I cannot get the page to fit the entire page in height.
I have tried setting the hight property to 100% and it still wont work. The same thing worked to get the table to fit in width, just not for the height :S.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed would be greatly appreciated.

Reagards,

Mitch.

Short answer .. yes.. NO TABLES.
However, your problem is compounded by the fact that you are also using frames, although I see no reason for that.

You could still use css to extend the div holding the background image to 100% height. There's no help for short table.

I havn't used frames. Well, not that I'm aware of!

Can I just ask, why are divs better then tables? I only learnt a very small amount at high school and I have no further education on this, all self taught stuff.

Well, there was definitely a frame on your site.

Why are table-less sites better ?

Have a look thru the articles on Web Standards that are in the stickies at the top of this forum.

Tables are great! Do you check the stats for your web site? It probably has a lot of reports, but the main ones are your pages and how many times each one has been visited, and what other sites referred how many people. Both of these are what tables are made for. Repetitive data where rows and columns make sense.

But general layout and design isn't the kind of data that tables were designed for. That's the short version of why divs are more suited to layout. Other reasons are that tables tend to require more html code, and make it easier to make a mistake, forget a tag, or put one in the wrong place.

You can set the width or the height of the table to be in percentage.

Code:
<table width="100%" height="100%">

I have tried that. It works for width but not height. Not too sure why :S.

I love tables too. they are so easy to use. Everything is all nice and aligned.
I had a look at that page to why tables are not as good but it keeps going on about spacer gifs and un needed tables. I NEVER use spacer gifs, and I use the least amount of tables as I can. 1 or two on a page.

So I cant see the problem.

You cannot set a percent to a table using the height="" method. It is OK to scroll vertically .. horizontal is what you want to avoid.

Mitch_40, are you paying for web hosting? I'm guessing since you're in high school and probably don't have a lot of money (or a credit card) that you probably aren't.

As a result, I think what's going on with your domain is what is called Frame Forwarding. What happens is that your site is hosted somewhere else (usually for free) and your domain creates two frames to present your site in. This gives you the benefit of a domain name and hosting without having to pay for it.

I suspect this is why LNR saw the frame. If that's the case, you may want to spend upwards of free on a hosting plan that will support your domain.

There are a few free hosts out there that will host a site like yours no problem...you should look into anything that isn't advertiser-supported.

I thought it would of been to do with the domain forwarding.

Yes I do have a free service, but as sponsorship to my karting. I brought the domain and had to forward that onto the hosting so that must be why there is frames on there.

Still true about the money though... Bloody motorsports .... ahhhhh motorsports lol. Kinda worth it haha.

You could add a frame killing script to the header of your first page:

Code:
if(top.frames.length!=0){
top.location=self.document.location;
}
