Erm, probably no. And I don't see why you would need to protect it? If you put it on the web then it becomes available to the world.

What's HTTrack?

If you find a way to prevent software like what I'm guessing that is to use your web site, you'll prevent the search engines' bots from reading your site, and no one will find you.

There's no way to lock down your web content 100 %, but depending what you're trying to protect, you can make it a lot more difficult to take.

HTTrack is open source website copier and is capable of downloading entire site.

There is no simple solution for that.

You could try to filter upon the user agent.
Otherwise, you must track a user/bot usage, time between pages, and data downloaded and have something dynamic that will redirect him on a specific page when you consider it is not a regular user.

I don't know of any automated way, nor all made script to do it though. It's too variable from 1 site to another.

Why would you care whether someone is downloading your site?

If you want to protect your design: sorry, but if see it, I can re-create it. I dont need to look at your code at all.
If you want to protect your content? Sorry, if I can read it then I can copy them down if I really want, no matter what.
You want to put them in images to stop me from copy and paste? It can slow me down but can't stop me. And worse, all search engines will abandon you.

So, why would to want to waste your time and effort to do it?

Thank you all verymuch for your replies.

Well, I've a 80 page site which consists FAQs/tips/sample code... on various subjects useful for many people. I am not worried about ppl who copy content and use it for the "real purpose" but I'm worried about ppl who copy/download entire site and clone it ! That site is my 3 years hard work...I've created it to "help ppl"

Thanks again for your replies

That sounds like a potential problem, but I don't think you have to worry so much. I have encountered this before, I then threatened the guy and his host that he clearly violated the copyright law, and they backed off.

Ithink the best you could do is include things like, copyright info in comments in your code and on the actual page so if someone does "clone" your site then they will have to bother to remove them all or they may just leave them, and then its like freeadvertising most peopel would go to the original source..

Yeah, that's more of a copyright issue...

Just make it clear that all content is copyright, cannot be used without consent etc etc.

Sure, it doesn't stop people from taking your stuff, but it lets you take action against them if they do.
