Well, nowhere in that code,

the head end tag </head> should go immediately before the body open tag <body>

He meant the open tag <body>

The code you've shown, however, is apparently incomplete as it end where a stylesheet would be expected. Perhaps there was more to the source that you missed as what you've got won't display anything.

Also if you are learning it is much better to learn the latest, html 4.01 is now 2 versions behind the VERY latest. i would advise you start with XHTML Transitional. ionly really a couple of bits differant, but will help you alot when we all HAVE to amke it strict...

Its mainly things like making all tags in lower-case and taht look at w3c.org

You will learn alot.
Hope this helps.

Nope the latest HTML version is 4.01.

the "later" versions you are considering are XHTML which is not a new version of HTML but an extension for use with XML and XSLT, and strictly speaking if you are not using XML you shouldn't be using XHTML doctypes

Ok... personally considering that they are no longer continuing html and xhtml is "taking over" form it i would class it as a newer version.

just the way i think obviously other people think differantly.

Can we have a link to what you read?

BTW.
HTML5 was originally named "Web Applications 1.0" for "political reasons" , but the working group is preparing to submit the HTML5 specification to the W3C for RC status.

I hate the problem with different browsers... A week ago something happened with one of my sites - when I open it with Firefix it's OK but when I try to open it with IE7 the header is moving right (almost 500 px) and the strange thing is that this is happening only on my machine - I tried it on every other computer in the office and it's OK

That could be to do with your screen resolution.

I hate it too on this page... http://calm.dansgalaxy.co.uk/sitedocs.php?id=privacy It looks fine in IE7 and IE6 Fine in FF bit in opera it goes messy...

That's your first mistake...no one ever spots errors in their own code. That doesn't necessarily mean it is wrong; it just means that we are the last people who should be checking for our own errors.

Put it up and let us all see it. Someone's bound to figure something out.
