You forgot Safari, Konqueror, Lynx, ... :-)

Maybe an "other" option.

What's 'Netscarps' ? Did you mean NetScape..... It lost to FireFox...

My vote is for Opera... ( Even though I use IE & FF)

Firefox is definitely the best browser out. From standards point of view and usability.

I had a dream where I was making love to the FireFox browser. I awoke and sobbed that it was only a dream.

It's true FireFox can be exploited, like almost any software. There was a bug where a web site could trick the browser into sending your full account name and password list. So IE isn't the only browser with bugs, but that doesn't make it king again...

FireFox and Opera both have things I like, and things I don't. It's a toss-up between the two, but I'd lean a little toward FF just because of FireBug.

Wrong. When it comes about html standards compliance, I believe that Safari and opera are ahead of the others.

Anyway, I use firefox for it's debugging tools. I just cannot work without firebug...

firefox!...this poll is kinda strange, a poll like this is not very...precise in any way, we're all computer freaks here so opera or firefox is going to win :P...

and well..opera has a paid version and firefox is better and is freeware & opensource..

well...i've been using firefox since the 0.8 version if i'm not wrong, before that the project was called firebird.

and i've been aware of ALL the changes (well not all but i'm able to recognize new stuff in the graphical and non graphical interface by reading the info).

and i can telly you that firefox is the safer browser i've ever tried and if default is not enough for you, you can try noScript wich is a wonderful extension! AND adBlock,i cannot live without 'em!

I have to say, i do have a soft spot for opera, even though it is really annoying half the time. The widgets make a nice touch though.

I have to agree with all of this ... except Safari, as I've never used it. But mainly FireBug. If that stopped working tomorrow, my web dev would be back in the stone age. My #1 biggest complain about Opera is there's no FireBug ( although their dev tools do a lot, but FB is just so **** appealing, and easy to use ), with #2 being gmail.

I love the spell check built into FF 2, where it underlines misspellings in red. Just like Visual Studio, Word, and a host of others. I'm finding Opera's spell check is less intuitive ( you actually have to tell it to check a field, then it goes through word by word, the very old way of doing things ) but much higher quality.

Correct. Opera is at the moment the best browser you can get for the Windows platform.

False, Opera is for free. And why do people believe OpenSource=better?

The only advantage Firefox still has over is Firebug and I don't even use it that much since I build my sites in little parts and then join them together anyway (sort of divide and conquer like mergesort...). Sometimes new flaws appear, but more often than not they don't.

Cannot say anything about Safari because I hate Apple so why would I bother? Once you've used Opera properly to its full extent the only thing you still need Fx for is website testing and web development (if you use Firebug).
Also I have to agree that Firefox is a lot slower than it used to be. A great thing about Fx was that it was so lightweight and now Opera packs a lot more punch (have you seen the speed dial feature? I love it) and is a smaller installer. (4.7 compared to 5.7mb)
Also Opera passes Acid2 flawlessly. Does Fx do that yet? Considering it is so standard compliant it is about time.
Though I believe Opera's JS is not quite up there yet. Probably security limiting it.

MJM_RDS,
Open source usually means - bugs are fixed faster
And usually there is a community behind it that is helpful when you pass by and ask a question.

For firefox in particular I love the addons, I have found some that I can't live without anymore (ie firebug)

So firefox all the way
