Hello everyone, I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can put a link at the top of my page that clicking on it would do the same thing as if you clicked View > Page Style > No Style. Thanks a lot.

No Style just means not to use the css so you could do something that after clicking the css wasn't being used anymore. One simple way would be to link to an identical page that doesn't have the css applied.

More likely you'd add some javascript that when clicked removes the link to the external css.

Thanks for the knowledgeable response. I made an identical page and took out the link to the css, but that didn't really do much. Then I tried putting these tags in <style type="no style"> body </style>. And then the page just shows up completely blank. So I don't know, I'll keep working on it. Thanks again though.

How is the original page styled? With html or css?

If you want to post a link I'll be happy to take a look and see if I can offer more specifics.

Ok then, here is the site http://solidgroundhost.com

And here is the duplicate page without the css http://www.solidgroundhost.com/index2.htm

If you go to the actual site http://solidgroundhost.com and click View > Page Style > No Style (with a Firefox browser) you'll see the page as I want it to look when people click on the link that I want to put up at the top.

The idea is to make the site more accessible for the visually impaired who use reader software.

I really appreciate the help and if you need some free web hosting for a few months, you know where to find it.

Well, if you want it to be the way that you're talking about, you're going to need to strip out more of the styles on your page and put them into an external style sheet.

Once you've done that, it's not that hard to make a Javascript to take out that HTML.

I was going to say the same thing as Kyle. The problem is you have a lot of style directly in the html so you would need to create a page without those styles.

However you don't have to remove every style to make a page that renders well for people using a reader. Building accessible sites doesn't require that.

I'd suggest first checking the site for 508 compliance. Your page is going to need more work than the styles. To be honest it's not great code and and all the tables will require work to make them accessible.

Check your site for compliance with the link above. I know it's going to fail, but if you start seeing all the places where there are problems it should help to make fixes. When you encounter something you don't understand feel free to ask here. I'll be happy to take a look and try to help.

Thank you both for your responses.
I ran that tool on my website and it had some issues with the image at the
top of the page. It says, "Please verify that this image is only used for
spacing or design and has no meaning". The thing is that image has some
important links in it to click on. So that's why I'm thinking about
putting a link at the very top of the page(above that top image) that
would allow users to switch to a "plain layout view".
