Is there a free live online chat I can incorporate into a site. I can do this with asp.net but that requires the page to refresh at set intervals and I'd prefer not to have to do that. Something that is customizable would be nice and something that doesn't need to be installed on the client or the server. Did I mention it needs to be free 8).

That would be something that you'd need to do with a server-side language, not with just HTML. Try something like phpMyChat. I think that a program like that would be the easiest to install and use.

i use crafty soemthing which is a very good chat for websites.

Dan I think you're refering to Crafty Syntax - this is quite ugly as chats come though and the backend is quite irritating - you keep hearing refresh click sounds all the time and have to turn the speakers down!

it may not be flashy but its pratical simple, and easily customisable and has software ou can install on your desktop to moniter it

http://chatstat.com/ is a free online chat software. Check it out - it's great. If you're willing to spend a little bit, www.kayako.com has a piece of software called LiveResponse - the best one on the market in my opinion.

Try Userplane Chatlite. All you do is put the login page on your site everything else is kept on their server. It also has video/audio.
