I have been very good at getting a high rate of turnovers with low traffic.

But now I've recently acquired a website that doesn't really work the way I want it to. (Not a problem I'm adaptive)

So now I need a traffic solution.
And I need to do the following things with it.

1) Target women.
2) Target francophones. (French people)

The problems I am going to have.

1) It is a site devoted to sensuality and female fantasy.
2) Although there is absolutely NO P*RN on the site.... It isn't exactly a Disney site. (Already had several problems)

There really isn't any real demographic or psycho-graphic statisques that I can find.
And I haven't been able to find a similar site.
So, any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

thanks
------
Ps. I really didn't know what I was purchasing and I'm kind of sensitive about this newest aquistion. (Long story)
Let's just say I hate p*rn and have issues with it. So I kindly ask for no jokes.

Any chance you could give us the link Michel?

It's purely to give us a better understanding of the kind of market you would be targeting

This is one of the few cases where link building IS both essential and useful

Forget any preconceived ideas about "theme" relevance and "related sites" and all the other often spouted drivel about links reciprocal or not

Any site that has a largely female userbase could be a valuable source of useful traffic for your site.

A link would be useful to give more accurate advice (PM rather than a post), don't worry about offending me, one of the first sites I researched and optimised was for a colonic irrigation clinic

I think all of you are going to start to hate me.
And I make my apologies.

I have 2 problems.

1) The site is so that only francophone communities can access it.

2) I don't like to post any links in forums. (Yes I know.. good source of traffic) But I don't like the politics that are often played out on the net.

But Chris I'll pm you the url.

Have you considered text-link-ads? Maybe you could find some sites on their that have French female readers.

You may want to research Keyword Vs. Content Density as well. Which is One of many key elements in SEM/SEO.

Simply making sure that the search Phrase key words are above 3% & under 5% will increase your search engine index ranking. Keep in mind that if you go Over 5% you may be sited for Spamming the engine & banned for an undisclosed amount of time.

Here are a few Key elements of SEO:
  • Inbound Link Building
  • Content Vs. Keyword Density
  • Image - alt/title tags
  • Hyperlink - alt/title tags
  • (SE) Search Engine friendly Navigation
  • Inner / Cross linking
  • Content tweaking (as needed)
  • Landing page support
  • Outbound link management / restrictions
  • Meta tag arrangements
  • Engine submissions
  • Analysis / Troubleshooting to insure 1st page Google results for selected search phrase
  • and More.....
We have written hundreds of articles / tutorials on Internet marketing, You are more than welcome to research Us & utilize our resources.

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

I have read all that and done all that.

And it works wonderful if you all want to get a billion people surfing your site
without regards to basic target marketing. My site is for French Women.
English speaking American Men are by defacto.... usless traffic.

I focus on getting more clients...
Not on getting more visiters.

Furthermore I have BANNED google and american search engines.
Instead I worry about the following search engines.

exalead.fr
seek.fr
franceevasion.com
recherche-libre.com
Voila.com

And submissions to the various annuaires that we francophones love so much.

For me...

The problem is the Internet is primarly a Male medium.
The Internet is primarly an American medium and secondaryly an Anglophone medium.

Bit of a bad foot wound there Michael, considering that a couple of sites I look after get a few visits a week from google.fr users with absolutely no references to France generally, neither do they use French as a language anywhere on the pages.

My point exactly.
You have english sites.

I banned american search engines and my traffic dropped significantly.

BUT

It has ZERO impact on my sales. And the overall advantage is my profit margin was raised.

I won't mention who I was talking with in a private conversation. Suffice it to say I'm not a fan of the shotgun strategy to marketing.

Think of it this way...

If someone has a site and they get 1,000 visiters daily and earn 100 each day.

But someone else with a similar site gets only 200 visiters daily but still earns 100 each day.

I go for clients... Not visiters.

I think the key factor here is no longer Targeted Traffic, it has become more "Traffic Vs. Conversion" Now. I Must agree with Chris on Google.fr, I too have seen several French based sites with google.fr traffic.

Its not the search engines fault that your getting primarily American visitors that don't purchase your products or services. It boils down to your overall SEO campaign including the Keyword Vs. Content density strategy you're using to attract people from the engines.

I mean if your not optimized for French Phones, we shouldn't expect French Phone visitors should we?

Secondly, one the visitor hits your site you need to watch there sticky rate (How long they stay on your site as well as how many pages they view). This information will tell you if your pages are self converting. If I have said it once I have said it a million times; A hit is just that, a hit, unless you have optimal self converting content pages when the hit arrives, it will always remain, a hit.

So, please let's not point fingers at engines such as Google & blame them for none buying American traffic. Google works, As long as you optimize for it & have self converting pages for them to visit.
