Hey guys,

Where can I learn about selling web traffic? I've heard about allowing people to place a link on your website for a monthly flat fee, but don't know exactly where to start. Does anyone know of any resources where I could learn more about selling traffic, or have experiences they can share?

If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times, there are THOUSANDS of ways to market oneself on the internet in order to generate higher volumes of traffic.

Your TOP 8 categories are:

1. Search engines
2. Linking strategies
3. Viral strategies
4. Public relations
5. Traditional media
6. E-mail publishing
7. Networking
8. Paid advertising

Just a few examples of a couple sub-category campaigns would be:

Blogging
Community profiles
Link exchanges
Banner exchanges
Classified ads
Directory listings
Targeted Product/Service pages linked in your main site footer
guest books
Paid (PPC) - Pay Per Click, (PPS) - Pay Per Sale, (PPI) - Pay Per Impression, Etc....
Paid Banner ads, Listings, Submissions, Etc...
(SEO) Search Engine Optimization
And MORE!

Keep in Mind that you get out what you put in, while free does work it tends to take 10x more work for only a 1% return.

As long as you apply yourself & stay self-Motivated utilizing some of the above mentioned, you have the potential to generate MASS amounts of traffic.

FYI: If your going to try & sell traffic, make sure you can generate it yourself First!

Then of course comes the Topic of Traffic Vs. Conversion, but that's a whole different ball of wax!

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm pretty familiar with traffic generation strategies, since there's no shortage of that on the web, but I haven't come across many resources that lay out strategies for people interested in SELLING traffic. Do you know of any resources where I could learn about this? Thanks again, guys.

That would first depend on the type of traffic generation you are trying to sell. We offer traffic services in the following (But not limited to) Forms:

P.S.
There is always the option of running a Traffic Exchange that rewards the surfer 1.5 visits for every 1 site they visit along with selling block visits. It's Kinda the only way to get close to any type of a guarantee on specific traffic amount unless your selling a set click amount on banner ad spots. And I must tell you, thats all a traffic exchange is, is a traffic hit using one of those. Worst conversion rates I've seen yet with "0" targeting.

If you search deep your see there are places that will buy your traffic as redirect but you must have a lot of traffic for it to be worth your time.
If you site has lots of traffic
Where does it come from what was there keyword to find your site this all nead to get the max cash out of the traffic.

You can be come a reseller of traffic I use to buy old domain names and re route the traffic to other people sites but was a lot of hazzel and small return So i wish you a lot of luck. here a few links that may buy your traffic

I can see Optimizing a one page landing or even a doorway page to sit high in the engines, However selling ad space on those still doesn't guarantee the amount of hits in any time frame the buyer will receive.

I have optimized doorway pages myself that sit on the first page of google, I primarily use them as Targeted Product pages to focus on ONE product or Service I offer.

The more banners (Outbound links) you place on that doorway page will effect the overall ranking of the page as well. after a few banners are added, Unless you also compensate by updating content & other SEO strategies the page will soon fall off the 1st page & you will end up with Angry advertisers.

In theory its a good idea, however in reality it tends to take more work to maintain than what your getting out of it. (Unless of course you're just looking for the quick buck & you don't care about customer retention)

I blame that on "ADHD". As if that excuse accounts for anything!
