Has anyone had much luck getting traffic from Craigslist and other free ad sites ? I have very good results with this method.

I suppose that would depend on the level of traffic you're referring to as good results.
  • 1 link = 1 additional inbound to your site (Bonus)
  • 1 visit per day = 1 visit per day (No Conversions in the equation)
Granted the added inbound link (Targeted / Anchored) is a bonus, along with 1 visit per day x say 100 inbound links = 100 visits per day (They all add up).

As far as an independent campaign with one or 2 directories / classifieds I would have to say the results were minimal at best.

The Combined Mass Campaign results from targeted / Anchored Ads providing additional inbound linkage would be my main focus (Understanding that the individual Ad in a saturated Virtual Directory / Classifieds Market yields low results).

I agree it is great to place relative ads, a larger scale campaign just seems more rewarding to me.

Not a lot. But to be fair, I haven't tried it in 4 years (don't have to).

Large scale campaigns are against the rules of Craigslist.

You don't get a "real" link. It vanishes in 7 days.

I suppose thats my fault, I should have clarified "LARGE SCALE CAMPAIGN"! I didn't mean to suggest using spam tactics all in the same directory / classified listing. I meant Multiple Directories / Classifieds Vs. Just 1 or 2.

Yeah but you're only allowed 1 post on a subject until the old one is deleted at Craigslist. I think by definition CL is out for large scale anything. Directories, yeah, but that's not what CL is.
