3 way link systems are always a stupid idea - Google indexes billions of sites so it knows who is linking to who - trying a 3 way linking ring isn't going to get you out of hot water!

Work on improving your content to impress and inform your visitors, rather than one silly little linking games

Thats what i figured, just wanted to hear it from someone else. We have been enjoying our site in the top page in google for our main keyword for a few weeks now with good ole fashion SEO work.

Was looking for something that may help to keep us there. We certainly at this point or down the road want to cut any corners on what has been achieved thus far.

OK - yep link exchanges are definitely not the way to go!

Provide good content and continue doing so - possibly create a blog or something if you haven't already as link bait.
