Thinking about starting a new website, just wondered whats the most efficient way to go?

It will take 3 to 6 months to get the content ready so should I purchase a domain name now and stick a page up just to get it indexed or should I wait and launch the whole site when it's finished?

Any other tips would be much appreciated.

cheers

Personally I would wait at least until you have a minimum amount of content and the structure ready. I would put the site up when the site is made and I had one or two content articles ready. Then at least you can be indexed for content and keywords you want. Once this minimal site is up you can add content to it as you produce it.

I would go with what leonglass said. Put up some content that is complete so it can stand alone and then add more to it when it's ready. If there is some kind of age test that Google use on new sites and if the clock starts ticking when Google first encounter your site, then I think getting your site up ASAP would be a good idea.

I think you should by the domain name and host a static html page with content related to niche of your website and later on you can upload new version of your website.

(1) The first essential requirement is some disk space on the web.
(2) The second essential requirement is a domain name.
(3) The third essential requirement is web content that people can view in their web browser.
Using a web designer has a good search engine of web pages on specific topics? This can be verified by searching Google, Yahoo or MSN Search for keywords or phrases appear in these pages, but we must admit that the keywords or phrases that popular can not get good results.

In my opinion you can do onsite SEO first, then offsite. Do a keyword research on with Google adword – and find the relevant keyword for your site. Then do link your site with quality backlinks.

1. think about your topic, and content you will provide on your site.
2. pick up a domain name relevant with your content.
3. do on-site SEO: include content writing, optimize html...
4. do off-site SEO: include build back link, get more traffic.
5.>> do business on your site.

You should buy hosting only when your content is ready and you are ready to attract visitors, otherwise waist of your hosting subscription.

It doesn't take much time in indexing, if you use legitimate ways of indexing and have a good content, without content its even more difficult for the site to get indexed.

Depends on the purpose of the site, like if the site is to promote a business then there should be a proper strategic plan from purchase of domain to optimization of the site.
but if the site is just for a new experience then what ever you do it makes no difference, because a site should be developed to serve a purpose,if anyone don't know the purpose of the site how later it is gonna be managed?

I always try to find a keyword-rich domain when I start a new site, this is a very good way to make your site indexed and ranked in google. I also prepare about 5 articles to post after launching the new site and prepare another bundle of articles to be posted for the next week or two (at least 1 article a day).
I usually started with 1 or 2 original written article an the rest are plr articles I bought but you don't have to follow this suggestion though, original content is always more powerful I'm just too lazy and sometimes clueless of what to write.

Never wait, launch straight away. Just ensure that at every stage their is no 404's and that you have planned the websites structure. As changing it at early stage is damaging.

Launch with minimal content, then re-launch.

Nice information This 3 ways are also useful at a time of creating new website.

Develop An Update Schedule :- Before launching your website you should develop an update schedule that is reasonable. It's common to launch your website with great enthusiasm and become less interested after every month.

Don't Use Too Many Ads:- You allow other webmasters to place ads on your webpages through the use of Google AdWords or other ad platforms. It becomes tempting to fill every white space on your website with ads. Taking this approach is often counter productive because it will create a negative user experience if your content is surrounded by too many ads.

Use Accepted Web Standards :- Most people see the same type of navigation on every website and want to try something different to stand out from the crowd. You may impress a few visitors with a non-standard design but the bulk of your visitors will feel lost when they reach your website.

Do you or can you write one article (300 to 800) words about your chosen subject?

Do you have any search terms you want to be found for or rank for?

Are you interested in making money from your site or is it a personal website or blog?

Picking a domain name will depend on your answers to the above questions. And your domain name is one of the most important elements of your site.

Give us a little more information and you will get much more actionable answers and suggestions.

My list would be this:

What is the website purpose, commercial or personal?
What is the topic, tightly focused, only 2 or 3 keywords?
What term or terms do you want to be found for?
Is there a .com, .net or .org domain name available?
What form will the website have, a blog or static HTML content pages?

That will give you a really good start. My suggestion is this: If you can produce a good article and can answer the
questions above then I would buy a domain name and put up a single page site so you can get indexed by the search engines and possibly ranked for your keyword.

Please note that I have left out a lot of the technical details for now. You need to answer the above questions first and then you can decided to hire someone to help you or figure out how to do it yourself.

Good Luck,

Phil
