Looking for ways to promote your website? Here are some basic strategies and tools that could help launch your website online.

1. Directory Submission - this used to be one of the most time-consuming activity online. But thanks to online tools like the Submitexpress.com directory submission form, you don't have to spend a few days doing the manual work. You can just run an automated submission tool to help you with the task

2. Social Bookmarks - Thanks to social bookmarking sites like onlywire.com, you can post a single bookmark to dozens of other bookmarking services. Its really convenient.

3. Digg.com - if you have an article that's worth sharing, then Digg it.

4. Chat - if you've got a good network of people or chat list, then you can certainly market your website using your chat messenger. Tell you family and friends about your website, and update them everyday about the new or cool stuff you've added to the site. That should make them come back often.

5. And if you keep an online profile on a social network like Myspace, then its best to promote your website through there. Myspace and Friendster are social hubs. Join social groups and tell them about your site.

Seriously.....

Directory Submission - There are, at most, 10, decent directories online that will generate decent traffic. The rest are a waste of time and effort. Anything other than DMOZ is really a waste of time. Directories these days are quite outdated in terms of traffic directions.

Social Bookmarking/ Site Sharing/ Digg - Big influx of crap traffic that breaks any server that isn't properly balanced, and then the traffic goes away. Great

Chat - YAY harass your friends and family into visiting your site!!! That is a sure fire way to increase sales/ad revenue!!!!!

Social Networking - Same deal as Chat, with a slim chance of some hit and miss traffic.

There is no magic formula, decent traffic comes from a good advertising campaign (they usually cost money, unless you are very good) and of course a good product.

I'd say this is cross-posted forum spam for the sake of backlinks, but on the other hand she asked a question earlier on about social bookmarking and SEO...so I can't tell.

I know this is something stupid...I just don't know the exact nature of the stupidity.

I think Dir Submission is still ok. But you need to do it slow and steady. Do not submit to low quality directory

The best advice is that try having the IBP and Arelis.The best software out there.I bet that minimizes 50% of your work.
But still the remaining 50% is hell!!
If you want to be an optimizer then i prefer to work under some SEO experts or an SEO masters
The practice with SEO is the best advice.
And hey read SEObook like bible.

By The Way : Another thing is NewsLetter thing( I know it sounds like spam ) but it's a good promovation site too.

1. Directory Submission - Pointless, something my little brother does. If you are stupid enough to waste days on it then don't use software, you might as well kill your site.

2. Social Bookmarks - No

3. Digg.com - If you have an article worth sharing SOMEONE ELSE will digg it and then it will get digged again. Etc.

4. Chat - Unlikely to get success unless you have a unique idea.

5. Thats called spamming.
