I think that it all depends on your site. Make sure it's tagged and categorized correctly, I think that will help out a lot. If you have a site that really catches the eye at a first glance, that helps with SU too. SU has a wide audience, and while I have never relied on it for traffic, I think any site can benefit from it.

I started one of my sites off on the right foot by advertising on StumbleUpon.com for 2 weeks. It helped my pagerank on search engines and it was well targeted so I think it's a good investment, the traffic is pretty good, the users browsed on the website and most of them added it to bookmarks.

I agree with Jamestl2. I think the traffic isn't high quality but you may get bloggers or other webmasters who check out the website and create a very targeted blog post to get your traffic.

Either way - I would never rule out any website that has that potential.

I have learned even if the traffic is high in quantity but not quality you can still get a couple of buyers and if you have a good product or service then they will spread it by word or mouth. It's worth it.

But..... the best quality of traffic for me comes from posting in forums because I build long term business and sometimes personal relationships.

it basically gives you about 10 free stumbles per day or more.... so when you submit a new site to stumbleupon, you get 10 free stumbles right away... they spread it out over the course of an hour or 2....

ive had a LOT of success with it.

Stumble Upon is one way of generating traffic. just post something interesting and for sure your traffic will increase.

this is the best response so far ... I just want to add this ... do it anyway ... you need amny kind of links; there's now ay to which ones are the best, as most importantly you need to have a good variation ... give them all a try

If you can't tell which links are best (easy by checking your stats to see which ones send traffic) maybe SEO isn't the best industry to be charging people money in.
