Hi guys... wondering if you would share your thought about the dilemma that I think will be faced by many people who want to start a content driven website.

You know that a content driven website... let's take an obvious example like Digg.com.au ... appeal to the users because of the content... But in turn, the contents are actually supplied by the users themselves... When we start a website like that the content won't be much because there are not many users yet. But if we don't have enough content to start with... then we can't attract many visitors/users. If we can't attract many visitors then we can't get much content... Do you see the dilemma here?

Wondering if you would share few tips/strategies to start that kind of website. Thank you.

I'm not sure I would call Digg a content driven website. I consider content driven to mean the content was created on the site in question.

But I do understand your dilemma. What you'll probably want to do is start submitting things yourself and also asking friends and relatives to submit and anyone else you know so you can start filling up the site with submissions, comments, etc.

Once you have something there focus on finding a core group of people who enjoy the site and want to contribute further. It's true that until you reach some critical mass you're not going to attract a most people, but most communities starts with a few loyal and driven members before it expands into the mainstream.

Keep in mind Digg didn't start out as big as it is now.

Yer.. Content driven sites are HARD to get rolling. You're going to have to submit most if not all of the content in the beginning yourself but once the ball gets rolling you'll be growing faster than you'd ever imagine. I know from experience.. What type of site are you trying to open? It really varies from site to site. For example say you have a fansite for a game with a bunch of guides, databases, etc. and then an article website where users submit articles. Both content driven, both entirely different.
