Have you considered advertising your online presence locally or nationally? Considering that most households have computers with internet access, this seems the next logical step for more online businesses.

While I appreciate that most offline businesses are still trying to understand how to get a website built for themselves, I think the opposite is true too. Are you making a name for yourself offline?

At the moment with the current websites that I run, offline advertising wouldn't benefit me much. However, I've used online advertising to target my local market before and it's worked quite well.

It depends what you're doing. Im going to be focusing on offline, just as much as online once I start my business properly. Looking to target business' in and around my area as well as some accross the country.

Still have a long time to go yet (Probably about four or five years, once I have finished University and raised some capital), but it's nice to be planning already.

Not really. I have a small ad in a catalog aimed to the small town I live in, that is for my web hosting services and I get a customer now and then from it. But compared to the results of my online advertising that money is wasted.

I mention my websites regularly in conversation with people. I dont force it into conversation, but if the opportunity is there I definately bring it up. You never know how many people may hear about it from there.

Advertising offline for your online business is a great way to stir interest, promote your branding and potentially swing new customers through your open doors.

A forum I used to own was marketed after I sold it in an offline magazine related to internet browsing (.net UK) and received a fair few sign-ups from that.

I've considered it, but I think it would have a very low return rate for the money.

It depends highly on your market niche. What's the point in doing it if for instance your target demographic are webmasters? 95% of the people you will encounter will know nothing about your market.

On the other hand, "social" sites, or sites in which people can connect with easily and quickly are definitely the best route to go in offline marketing. At the moment, we have two cars driving around with magnets with our logo and site URL on it. These were made at Kinkos for a mere $89.99 for a pair ($45.00 each).
