There is the issue with sites such as Digg & Slashdot that the visitor click-through rate is low. Now you have to take into account that many of the users of these sites use the internet a lot. As such, the ad-blind syndrome is very much in effect. I visit so many websites that if I rarely register the ads much less click on them.

If you really want click throughs, target the teen/female market. This is not ageist/sexist but something i've found to be true in some of the websites I have. They are the market that are curious enough to click on ads especially if it is well targeted.

My site is not Digg friendly. I use it but only for backlinks. I never expect to get Frontpaged.

Yeah, I've done that a few times. Never got on the homepage though.

Oh, just so you can say you've had a massive DOS attack...that was a good one, ie you've been bombed with visitors and will be able to say you got a page that's got oh, 16,000 uniques in six hours....

And it's a server test to see if you can handle it!!!!

I've posted a few things over there. Anyway, I wouldn't really recommend it for getting high quality visitors, but if you want some banners exposed or just some nice stats (you get at least 150 uniques per article, and I expect you can get thousands if you make it all the way to the front page), digg is the way to go.

P.S. Any suggestions on interesting topics that would make it to the front page?

The backlinks are good and they seem to hang about for a bit.

The stories I've done haven't been 'front page' candidates and some have only had single digit diggs.

However... I've been checking the indexing info from Google Alerts and through Digg I was able to get an acronym indexed before my site could. I don't know if that's because my site is new (no PR) or not. But if you are looking for SERPs then letting Digg take the lead for a few days may not be such a bad thing [more].

In this case the official site sits at the top (as it should be) but Digg could be driving traffic to my site sooner.
