Do you use Digg as a method to promote your site (what about netscapes copy version?)? Has it been sucessful for you? Would you recommend it?

I haven't used Digg before. I have heard a lot about it but never really tried it myself.

I have posted my sites on Digg before, but often they are shot down because they arent technical enough or unique enough. I find that if a site is very unique and very "hit", then it will probably get a lot of traffic from Digg.

I've had a few articles from my forums made to the main page of digg. I got thousands of visitors, really worth it IMO.

Unfortunately, I have never been able to benefit from digg. They dont deal with topics relating to my sites. I have a brand new site that is travel related, havent checked to see if digg can help me out there yet or not.

Digg's not all good though. They have a habit of totally crashing a dugged site's server so all that traffic is worthless if they can't access your site. And then there's people that put up mirrors of the site but you won't benefit from their ads on your site now will you?

Yeah, and supposedly Digg traffic isn't all that good for activity or clicks... they're just there to "read" supposedly. Is this accurate?

i think the digg report is submitted by a URL, so i think they visit the site... but im not sure.. or its like they cascade your site submission to their site and then members can comment on it.. ill have to look this up, but im not sure..

I'm a digg user myself and whenever I finish reading one of the articles, I close the window and proceed to comment on the digg site itself. Digg users are more of a "freeloading" type. They come and take but don't really do much for you.

Some people they you would get lots of more traffic from the new Netscape site but my tests didn't prove that yet.

Digg i have found simply overloads your server and the re-accuring visitors is very poor.

Yep i had digg go to one of my sites apart from a few clicks straight up there really wasnt any long term benefit. As most of the users there dont click ads its just bandwidth usage.

I got a 100% success rate of submiting one of my articles and geting it to the index page. To see what Digg does, look at these stats. The first day only covers about six hours, and it only covers the one page submited to Digg!!! 34,837 uniques so far!!!

Yes, it is an easy way to get a cool DOS attack!!!

I just made one thread on DigitalPoint, and made a post with a link there in my massive Seven billion SPAM pages thread.

Earnings were in the pits!!!!! From 35,000 ad impressions on the first day...I got a measly $1.15 (Yahoo) and for 3,064 with Google...$1.35.
