I was browsing the DP forums and found this site in an thread, seems quite interesting but I do not have any clue if it would be worth it.

Any opinions are welcomed.

It looks very good. I also read about this on a popular blog. It will be very interesting to see how it evolves.

It worked for Weblogs, Inc. but on a more personal level. Sure it is slightly different but both pay people to make posts.

Looks good. I like how original websites are constantly coming out, it makes the net more fun then seeing the same old thing over and over again.

It is true the Internet is growing at astonishing. Can you imagine how much more rapid the growth will be five years from now?

One of the things that FIRST caught my eye was "As seen in businessweek."

Well, if they were publicized in Business Week, then I have to think that they are probably pretty high in the reputationcategory.

There is no question that it could take the Internet by storm if done correctly. Imagine if they could outsource high quality writers at rock-bottom pricing. There is definitely a market for the service.

Yes, I heard about it. It is certainly a very interesting method. It will be interesting to see how it evolves, as already stated. If anyone participates in this, please keep us posted (no pun intended) on how this progresses.

Something I find very interesting is this type of service has actually been available on the web but never done with such professionalism. I guess they are taking the idea and running with it and you know what, I think it will work out very well for them. I think they made a very good decision by investing so much into this type of service.

Yeah, before most of it was just temporary and not long term. Like link exchange stuff, only with blog posts.

Dr Domaining, I think this is a bit misleading...PayPerPost and Weblogs Inc. are completely different.

Weblogs Inc. hires people to edit their blogs, but doesn't solicit payment from commercial interests in return for positive reviews. Maybe I am being naive, but I choose to believe that Jason Calacanis runs a decent ship. He certainly rails loudly against any interests that would try to subvert the editorial integrity of blogs. Engadget for example I reckon is pretty honest and upfront about all their reviews...that's the beauty of blogs...if they weren't then their readers/commenters would call them out on it.

PayPerPost on the other hand actually pays bloggers to write nice things about advertisers. This is completely different.

Check this out:

I like the fact that they're so blatant in what they're doing. The issue is that I don't think that their links will have any credibility: if you aren't sure that someone's saying good things because they might be a shill or might be legitimately discussing a product, you're bound to become skeptical, right?

The other issue: $10/entry is chickenfeed. If I am going to be a shill, I want to get paid more since they're ostensibly buying my credibility, and I bet you would want to get paid more too.

Instead, remember that one way to monetize your weblog is to build up a strong reputation then approach potential advertisers directly. I'll tell you that I've gotten much more expensive gadgets by contacting the companies and telling them I want to write about their stuff. Oh, and I always disclose that too, with a "XX was kind enough to send along a ..." or similar.

I don't understand why people are so quick to judge. It's not like a blogger has a duty to anybody about what they write. Who cares of they write about somethin they are paid for?

If you don't want to read that bloggers blog then don't, so why yip about it?
