Hey,

I own a website that currently receives about 9,500 visits a month. It is growing fast, and has recently caught the eye of a potential advertiser. This advertiser wants to put a 160x600 or 160x300 sized banner (my choice) along the side of every page of my website. He asked me how much it would cost for such an advertising deal. To tell you the truth, I have no clue what a reasonable price for either of these ads would be. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me.

Regards,

This is not an easy question to answer. All sites are not created equal, and ad space will be more or less valuable from site to site.

If two sites were the same, except one gets 9500 visitors and the other 15,000 per month, the one with the most traffic would seem to be more valuable. Then again, if the site with less visitors has a larger conversion (visitors to customers), then it may be more valuable.

I suggest that you start out with a low price that is agreeable with both you and the advertiser. As you site gets more popular, the price could increase.

Sorry that I couldn't be more specific with a price per month, but I hope that gives you some thoughts for consideration.

Dave

Hey,

I'd like to thank you for your help so far, and I understand what you are saying. But does anyone have a rough estimate of a monthly price for a 160x600 or 160x300 ad on a site that gets about 9500 visits per month? I really lost on the subject and your estimates would help me considerably.

Regards,

well the trick to getting the most money out of it would be to ask for more than you really want.... asking 50$ a month sounds pretty reasonable to me so ask for maybe 75$ and if he goes for it you made an extra 300$ a year and if he doesnt ask the 50$, or maybe more depending on how firm he is on his "no" but hey you never know maybe he will go for 75$, but never raise your price it makes you sound greedy = P

Thanks. We ended up closing the deal at $60 a month, which is great in my opinion.
