My experience with article marketing has been good for finding content - and abysmal to generate links. Any opinions on how to make this work?

Get someone to write original articles specific to your market.

Try submitting some grade-A quality articles and you'll find they'll get syndicated a lot more than the 2-300 word filler crap articles. (This advice obviously assumes you don't submit your best stuff.)

Some fine suggestions. Most people make the mistake that simply submitting any old piece of junk article is fine. However, the quality of your article matters.

Don't settle for garbage. Insist on good articles and submit them often. Try for at least a couple a week if possible. If your area is bombarded, shoot for a little more.

Another tip: Write a stellar headline.

A more modern version of this is to create a killer blog and get tons of incoming links without distributing content. Certain types of content can do better this way.

Can you explain a bit why exactly your experience was "abysmal to generate links."?

They were not putting your articles? If they were putting, were they using the resource box (where your link is)? If you have your article with resource box published on many sites - why the experience with links was bad?

Just some ideas cause I can't see where exactly is the root of all problems.

Articles submission really helps in generating traffic and backlinks to your site. However, I would only submit to the top PR article directories

Article marketing works for me, but before I write an article I make sure that there's few competition for optimized "keyword" results.

That way I usually get in one of those top 10 spots in Google. If i want several links on one article i use isnare's service.
