I've heard a few people mention setting up blogs as a way to get a good jump start on being listed in the Search Engines. I don't quite understand all of this, so let me explain what I am trying to do.

I want to start a few niche websites. I have article content for those websites. I also plan on adding some additional non-article content to these niches. I know I can throw up a domain with keywords and throw up some software.

The issue I see is the amount of time it will take to establish my own brandnew domain. Would I be better off getting a blog on one of the established blog sites? Can I put whatever advertising I want on them? or would I be better off simply starting my own domain and site?

I hope this makes sense, because I am a bit confused about all of this and I do not know if I am asking the correct questions.

My blog was index'd in a matter of days and is already ranking in Google. Just make sure you don't inflate the inbound links at all and let big G find you on it's own. I would also suggest adding Adsense to it just to get the adsense bot around I think that may help.

Blogs are easy to setup and can take under 10 minutes to be online, start to finish.
