Well today I was brainstorming about how to generate more traffic to my blog so I thought I would try something a bit drastic. My idea was to find a blog with lots of reputation and respect and blog about how I think one of their posts is wrong. But the whole while keeping the mention of respected that said site.

Basically what I'm doing is throwing the gauntlet out to get people talking and expressing their opinions, the good and the bad.

I'm really not sure what to call this, maybe a form of gurilla(sp?) marketing?

So what you think?

Sounds like a great idea, seriously. Some people are so dramatic that they'll go crazy and "omfg look what this guy said about my favorite blogger!!11."

That is absolutely a great idea, if it works or not that is another question.

Anyone that has tried anything liked that? Any comments?

Yes.. word of mouth is GREAT because.. the person that gets told of the website figures "hey, the guy who told me visits it a lot, so i might as well" you know?

My thoughts is that the idea might give you a burst of traffic and then it will return to normal.

The point is to convert the burst of visitors into regular visitors. How to do that?

I find that links are still the best method over time. OF course good content really helps.

Well, actually, if a man in a black suit, scratch that.. if a beautiful woman walked up to my door with a suitcase full of $4 million dollars, I think I'd take that over word of mouth. Technically, I think that'd be better, but I'm just saying... :P
