Hello All;
Thought you might enjoy this quick case study.
We are selling a product to a very well-defined, narrow niche.
We decided to try a test with Google AdWords to see if our
customers would click through our ads on Google.
To summarize, we set our maximum bid at $.40 and bought
a handful of keywords directly related to our product.
We set our budget at $10 per day and turned Google loose.
For the past three days, we've averaged 30 click-throughs per day, at about
30 cents per click. We are now capturing customer names and emails and not trying to convert on our landing page, so I don't have conversion figures yet.
That said, our cost per lead is cheaper than snail mail, since you have to pay for materials, postage, gas to the post office, etc.
Even if we only capture one email per day, that's 30 by month's end. Our product is expensive, and we only have to sell two to cover the cost of our Google campaign.
In short, this has been an excellent way to build highly targeted traffic.
Now, we just need to sell some ad space on the site, and we may even make money on our advertising page!!
Finally, I'm relatively new to all of this. I made a nice chunk of change in old media, and decided to give this a spin. Best decision I ever made!
Good luck-
Mook
