Hello,
I am working toward my goal of getting 1k uniques each day within 5 months. My site is very new only open a couple of weeks. Is it fair to post a link here? You can check out my sig after I edit it. Have any suggestions to get this amount of traffic? Thank you.

Well, what type of site is it? You can post your link once you have 10 posts, so just make one more somewhere and you will be fine.

Is it a site that will be updated daily or regularly with new content? If so, one good way to get some people to visit is to set up an AdWords campaign through Google. Those can be very effective and if done right can bring you some solid traffic.

Advertise your website in any fashion..

Try to get people to advertise your site through word of mouth.. <~ most effective way.

People trust other people.

sign up with related forums and post there a lot, try to become the specialist on those forums..

Word of mouth got me alot of uniques with a new site within a few weeks. I launched a site mid November (12th) last year, by the time December came I had 1552 uniques.

Was very pleased since I never linked to anybody and I never paid for any advertising.

The site is still going strong today!!

Some easy things you can do are submitting to the top search engines (google, yahoo, msn), getting into DMOZ, and using pingomatic.com whenever you add new content to your website.

Other things you can do include watching Technorati's top searches for some keywords you can attack (don't be a stickler for this, though, its rare when your targetted keywords come up), visiting other forums of the same topic (and posting your link in your signature), and mentioning your website every time someone asks for help

Find a way to get into wiki. I have a few sites listed on there and it brings in constant traffic.

Excellent, thanks. I'll work on some word of mouth, and at the same time, adding new content, etc. I believe the site I have has a lot of potential, and if people knew it existed, they would come. Computer security is a problem that almost everyone will experience at sometime. Thanks again,

Nice goal - but unless you have deep pockets, high search engine rankings or a lot of friends, I doubt you'll reach this goal - you need some viral marketing.

Maybe hold a competition on your site? It's a great way to get people's attention with subsequent advertising, you can usually require them to join a newsletter to subscribe, and can get tons of (albeit not very high-quality) traffic from contest entry sites like online-sweepstakes.com. Thinking beyond uniques, I've found that consistently running competitions is a great way to keep reader loyalty and let them know that I'm looking out for them as well.

Mysite first launched with 674 uniques in the first month. The second month the traffic more than doubled. People will come back and refer others if they like your site.
